Operation Youth is the heart & soul of Firestarters International, a faith based non-profit organization. For the last 12 years we have been ministering, feeding, clothing, educating & changing the lives of countless people who may have otherwise given up. Our mission is the recovery and restoration of our families & communities by focusing on the welfare of our youth. It broke our hearts to learn that millions of youth attempt suicide every year & 89% said they felt no one cared. Equally shocking are the statistics related to gangs, drugs & STDs. The youth in our community are secretly crying out for answers & help in ways that are unimaginable, from self mutilation (cutting) to secret suicide clubs just to name a few.
We hope to utilize things like the Internet, TV, video games, music, and many other types of media generally used negatively & use them to instill values & self-confidence in our youth. We are out in the community right now letting them know we hear their cries & are doing our best to provide them with some of the answers & various tools they need. We have found some of the best 1-800 help lines available today & are distributing them on our prevention cards & educational brochures to as many kids as possible.
Although our main goal is to help teens we also assist the community. Part of the healing process for many troubled teens is to participate in group activities with their peers while assisting their community. We provide them the opportunities to help themselves while helping others and having true friends they can count on during the entire process.
